1) scrub the blackened bottom of cookie sheets.

Wow, all shiny and magical. Want to come visit us? I have a few baking dishes that could use your touch. Supposedly, crumpled up aluminum foil is supposed to work great as a scouring pad for chrome/aluminum objects also.
